Mission Statement
A coalition of leaders from the Philadelphia Mayor’s Office, the National Constitution Center, the Religious Leaders Council of Greater Philadelphia, the Interfaith Center of Greater Philadelphia and other community groups is spearheading a local commemoration of the tenth anniversary of 9/11. The coalition’s overarching mission is to foster an atmosphere of mutual respect and dignity across lines of religious, ethnic and socioeconomic diversity on this solemn occasion. In addition to planning two major 9/11 events, the group has jointly developed a unifying pledge that will be disseminated to the public through a variety of formats. The goal is to encourage citizens from all walks of life – from prominent Philadelphians to elementary school students – to share their signatures, hopes, prayers and commitments. For additional information including a schedule of 9/11 events, please visit www.constitutioncenter.org.
